During spooky season, we embrace the unorthodox and the strange. This October, we want to bring that same spirit to the gallery by seeking art that finds beauty in what's often overlooked or considered flawed.
Forget polished perfection and predictable aesthetics. We're looking for art that is raw, real, and a little weird.
Let's celebrate the beauty in imperfection together.
This show will run from October 12th-November 1st.

Connected Community: Typewriter Studio is proud to be part of Winchester’s art community and reciprocate support of local arts organizations and businesses, such as Peter Bullough Foundation, ShenArts, and others. This community is passionate about providing artists with a broader network and increased visibility within the community. We will talk up our shows to all our people!
Halloween Events: This exhibition will take place during multiple Halloween events at The Typewriter, including Old Town’s trick or treating event. We’ll give out the good candy to make sure families check out this special exhibit. The last day of this exhibit is a First Friday where Typewriter Studio offers free art events to the public!
Exhibition Opening Reception: We love a party. Invite your favorite people to come hang out, grab a drink, and buy some cool art!
Workshop Opportunities: Our gallery space is used for workshops, creating additional opportunities for artists to teach or demonstrate their craft.
Proven Sales History: Since our gallery opened in June, each exhibition has had an average of 25% of pieces sold. We are committed to helping our artists succeed commercially.
Sale or Not: You may choose to make your artwork available for purchase. Typewriter Studio will take a 25% commission fee.
Submission Guidelines
$20 non-refundable submission fee (includes up to 3 submissions)
All art must be able to be hung. Must have secure wire or D-rings on back for hanging. No sawtooth hangers or eye hooks.
We reserve the right to not accept artwork upon arrival if it is not what was pictured in the submission or has incompatible hanging attachments.
Important photo guidelines: Make sure the photos of your artwork look like your artwork! Photos must…
Have good lighting
Clear image of each piece individually (if you are submitting 3 pieces, you must submit one photo of each piece; the form will allow you to upload 3 images)
Each image should be cropped to only contain the artwork
All file names must be in the following format:
ArtistLastName_ Title_ Medium_ Dimensions
Submissions will be reviewed and pieces selected by Typewriter staff and instructors.
Important Dates:
Submission Deadline: Friday, October 3rd @ 11:59pm
Selection Date (you will be notified via email by): Monday, October 6th by 9:00pm
Selected Art Drop-Off: Friday, October 10th between 2:00pm-7:00pm
Art Pick-Up: Sunday, November 2nd between 11:00am-3:00pm (failure to pick-up artwork on this date will incur a storage fee of $5/day)
