09/20: Pet Portrait Painting

from $70.00

Saturday, 9/20
2-5pm

Fur baby (or scale-baby or what-have-you) parents, this workshop is for you!

Dog, cat, hamster, lizard, bird, or something else? Get the opportunity to make a painting of your furry (or not-so-furry) best friend to keep forever!

Bring in a full-page printed picture of your animal bestie (or email a photo to Mal - she’ll reach out to the email you provide) and be ready to bring your bestie to live as a painting!

This class is designed for adults.

You’ll learn…

  • Image transfer techniques, so don’t stress if you “can’t draw”

  • How to “block values” (find areas of light or dark colors and draw those areas)

  • A great bit about color theory

  • Texture techniques when working with acrylic

All supplies included! Aprons available for use, but please wear clothes that can get messy. Acrylic paint is not reliably washable.

Instructor: Mal McDonald is an illustrator out of Stephens City, VA who earned her BFA at SCAD and has taught art to folks of all ages around the DMV area. She is a comic book artist best known for her comic series "Mermaids Guide to Picking Up Men". Malone enjoys working in many different mediums, mostly colored pencils, painting and block printing. When she is not making art or attending comic cons, Malone is at home with her punk rocker husband either reading about fantasy worlds or choosing whether to rewatch "Lord of the Rings" or "Twilight".
