from $35.00

Wednesdays, 10/29-11/19
9:30-11am

Do you love creating but feel like the drawing part of any project is where you get stuck? Do you miss art class in school where your art teacher was there to help you figure out why in the world your drawing doesn’t look quite right?

This class is the class for you! Designed for folks age 13 and older, this weekly class focuses on the basics of drawing, helpful tips and tricks, and exposure to a variety of drawing tools. Each week you’ll walk away with a drawing and skills to continue practicing.

10/29: Drawing Exercises - Artists aren’t born “good drawers” - it’s all about practice. Learn 3 fun practice techniques to build up your drawing skills - drawing what you see, not what you know; trusting the process; breaking things apart visually.

11/5: Shapes and Forms - Practice observing, drawing, and overlapping shapes to create drawings of objects in real life. Learn to look for values and shapes in a subject and how to use shading to emphasize the dimension of the objects.

11/12: Textures - Continue practicing looking for and drawing shapes from observation with shading, but then look for texture differences. Learn how different kind of marks can imply different textures.

11/19: Drawing Mediums - Explore using ink, graphite, and charcoal. Each have their own advantages and you never know which you’ll love the most! We’ll draw a small still life using a bit of all of these supplies.

Sign up for all 4 classes with perks and you’ll get…

  • Free drink from the fridge each week

  • 10% off in the retail area

  • Drawing notebook decorated with a hand-carved block print by Jill Savory, owner of the studio
